Stars are out at the Grand Canyon during the 27th annual Star Party at Mather Point.
The 27th annual Grand Canyon Star Party begins Saturday June 17th and lasts until Saturday June 24th. I encourage you to come out and celebrate the precious dark night skies of Grand Canyon National Park.
On the South Rim, there will be between 50-60 telescopes set up every night behind Grand Canyon Visitor Center beginning at 8 pm. There will be three constellation tours every night meeting at the telescope lot: 9 pm, 9:30 pm, and 10 pm. There is also a limited-capacity theater presentation by a special guest speaker every night in the Grand Canyon Visitor Center theater which starts at 8 pm. Doors open at 7:40 pm. During the day, our Science on a Sphere display inside the Grand Canyon Visitor Center will play astronomy-themed narrated short movies on a loop. Solar telescopes will be set up around the GCVC and along the rim as well.
